As a provider of educational opportunities for students, The Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program does not offer services for professional productions, filmmakers or composers. Student musicians who perform on the scores do so for the educational experience of working in a recording studio environment.

Hummie Mann is a consummate musical professional, and brings a spark of real creative fire to the moody NW environs. I know his outstanding Hollywood work, and I'm happy to get to work with him on these terrific scoring sessions at the PNW Film Scoring Program. I've worked with some of the best Hollywood talent, and the results Hummie gets with talented student composers and NW musicians is nothing short of fantastic. I hope you realize just how cool this all is!

The best music program for the money. The staff was excellent and humble. I was given information in 2 weeks that is applicable to composition and the music business. I doubt a person will ever have the ability to enjoy a small class setting with a working composer that costs less.

In all my years of classical training, I have never encountered an approach to harmony as fresh, intuitive and effective as Hummie's. It completely re-invented my approach to composition. Plus it doesn't hurt that he's an amazing teacher and has tons of experience to share with his students.

Originally I just wanted to hone my orchestration skills (I really hadn't thought about pursuing film scoring in many years) but after a conversation with Hummie I decided to try the program as an opportunity to extend my education (a BA in Music and time @ Berklee) and professional experience (over 1000 sessions and at least twice that many gigs).
It was an experience and education that helped me grow, gave me additional tools to make better music, and is helping to build my portfolio.

I have just finished my second FS4/Film scoring session with this program. I was astounded at how much I learned, and how thrilling it was, the first year. This second time, I am stunned. It is impossible to list all the reasons this such a wonderful program and such a huge value, but it starts with getting the highest quality information and feedback from a gifted composer and teacher, who is amazingly generous with his time, insights, and helpfulness.

Professional musical score any student filmmaker should explore. Learning the process of scoring a film, made my next production more streamlined.
Students of the program have a variety of talents and was great to see their enthusiasm on my project.
Highly recommended even if you have a budget for music. Having a scored piece of music is 10x better than a popular song on the radio, much more dramatic, and original.

The summer program is awesome! Highly recommand it to everybody! You're not going to believe the amount of information that you will learn about music, composition, music industry, and the practical skills that you're going to achieve. Hummie is not only an incredible musician, but an amazing teacher too, so everything is clear and highly professional. He definitely opened my eyes about how the professional music works, and about the role of the professional composer in the modern music industry.

I participated in the very first summer program. I found the two weeks well worth the money, and I left Seattle inspired. I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in learning more about the craft of scoring for film. Hummie Mann and his staff really take the time to share their skills with the participants.

Hummie's program has breathed new life into my career. I am now on track to follow my dream of being a film composer. The Summer Program is informative, fun, and well worth the tuition. I would have expected to pay much more for what I got out of it. Hummie obviously has a great passion for his craft as well as for teaching.
